03 Nov Zakynthos & One Night in Athens
Who of you lovelies knows Zakynthos? Honestly just a few months ago this island didn’t tell me much as it isn’t as famous as for instance Mykonos or Santorini. After falling in love with one picture from Zakynthos though my decision was made: I wanted to visit Zakynthos.
And I’ve never regreted this decision. Unfortunately the first three days we didn’t have good weather in Zaykynthos so we had only one day left to explore the famous Shipwreck Beach. We rented a car (it only cost us $40 including insurance) and drove to the famous view point Navagio Beach. Because it was October there weren’t many tourists which is always very convenient being a blogger or photographer as you don’t want to have other people in your pictures or videos 😀
Arriving there we almost couldn’t believe our eyes. We decided to explore the famous Shipwreck Beach from above instead of from below via boat. We only realized when we got there that the slope was really SO steep 😀 Honestly I’ve never been so scared in my life because NOTHING is secured there!! In order to get amazing pictures you really risk your life sometimes as a blogger but this was even for me a bit too much. So I can only recommend you eating enough beforehand, being extremely careful up there and don’t risk too much 😉
Even though it was a bit cloudy that day the beautiful blue of the Shipwreck Beach really took our breath away 😀 I actually think I’ve never seen such a stunning blue water. I also flew a bit with my drone there (read my drone review here) which was so much fun!
About Zakynthos in general I can say that this Greek island is much cheaper that Mykonos or Santorini. You will find mainly locals there and no true luxury hotels like at most other Greek islands. For those who love adventures and nature though Zakynthos is your island! We booked our trip on Edeltrotter.com which I can definitely recommend 🙂
The return flight from Zakynthos to Germany is always via Athens so we decided to spend one night in Athens. We also booked this trip via Edeltrotter. Our hotel was the New Hotel from the hotel group Yes Hotels which I can recommend 100%. It is a beautiful designer hotel with a dream rooftop from which you cannot only observe a stunning sunset but also the Akropolis. Furthermore, there is a great gym, amazing healthy and yummy food and an excellent spa with great treatments. I was able to test a facial there which was just perfect!
I can fully recommend visiting Zakynthos as well as Athens so definitely make a stop at both places during your next Greek trip 🙂
