My Editing & Camera

My Editing & Camera

Hi lovelies,

today I will finally publish the blog post that so many of you have been waiting for: I will reveal how I edit my pictures. On Instagram I receive each day so many messages and comments about my editing that I’m very excited to finally talk about it here today 😉

– Which camera do you use? –

A while ago I published a blog post about my editing and my camera (you can read it here). However, it is not valid anymore because I changed my editing completely! Back then I was simply too lazy 😛 and just edited my pictures on my phone. If I look at it now I can really advice you not to do so!! If you compare my pictures back then with the ones now you will be able to recognize drastic changes. Since I have been using the same camera for over a year (it’s this one here) the huge difference is simply due to my changed editing. For our aereal shots we use this drone btw which I simply adore! It is also very suited for traveling since it’s not so big and quite light 🙂

We just bought a new camera for which we’ve been saving money for a long time. But I will publish a separate blog post about it very soon 🙂 For beginners and advanced picture takers my previous camera is very suited and it is also a lot cheaper than our new one 😉

– Which Editing Program do you use? –

Like mentioned above I can only advise you not to edit your pictures via apps on your phone but rather to edit them on your laptop or pc with some good editing programs. I for example don’t use Photoshop (it’s too complicated for me) 😛 The program which I’ve been using since half a year now and absolutely adore is Adobe Lightroom. There are two different versions of it. I use Lightroom Classic but Lightroom CC also works very well. You can either buy the program or (like myself) pay monthly for using it. It may sound expensive to you in the beginning but once you realize HOW MUCH Lightroom will improve your pictures you will be very happy about the investment 😉 Via Adobe Lightroom you will be able to edit you pictures much more precisely and the quality won’t suffer like it usually does when you edit pictures on your phone! Thank me later 😀

– Which Filters do you use? –

I also often get asked which filters I use. I always use my own Lightroom Presets. I’ve become quite an expert in Lightroom so I just use my own presets as a first step when I edit my pictures. Afterwards I adjust each picture slightly (for example the light) and that’s it! Hence, editing won’t take me ages anymore and rather just around 5 minutes for each picture. Presets have the huge advantage that you save a lot of effort and time so they are perfect for me!

Because I very often get asked why I don’t sell my presets I decided to soon do so and give them out to you guys for a certain amount. I’m super excited how your pictures will look after applying them 🙂 But no worries! I try to offer them for a lower amount than most other bloggers 😉 Below you can already see some Before & After Pictures which I did simply by one click. Presets are just so easy to use and so convenient!

– When will your Presets be available? –

The exact date isn’t certain yet but I hope to be able to offer them to you guys within 1 – 2 weeks. They will be available in my Shop on my Blog. They are basically finished I just need to think about how to best group them. But that won’t take too long so you can get started too 🙂

Do you have some other questions about my editing or my camera?

Xoxo

Maddi

Like promised here are some Before & After Pictures after applying my Presets:

Love your posts. Just one question. In the previous post you mention the canon 70 D with the 18-135 lens and the and in this post you Mention a kit with the 18-55 and 55-250 lens. It’s two different kits. Which one is it that you used ? Xx Maria

You can also use Lightroom on your phone. But believe me: Investing in a solid editing program on your laptop or PC will make a HUGE difference!! If you edit pictures on your phone the quality always suffers 🙁

I’d be interested to know how many presets you have. Like how you categorize them! Sunset, low light, blue tones etc? I’m slowly learning Lightroom and you’re a huge inspiration!

Hi Madeleine, I’ve noticed that the pre-preset photos are quite dark. Will your presets work best if the photos are taken at low light? I can’t wait for your presets 🙂 thanks!

Yes, they will work for ALL pictures and ALL lights!! I just picked some darker examples because the effect is a bit bigger 😉 But if you check my Insta Stories there are also a lot of high light pictures 🙂

    Hey Maddi,

I just have a question about how you actually take your photo. Do you take the photo in RAW? I’ve got a similar camera as your old one and am trying to learn how to use it other than on the automatic setting!

I sometimes take them in RAW and sometimes in JPEG. Somehow I think it doesn’t make such a big difference. I often use automatic setting on my cam 😉

Can you, please, explain what is actually a preset? I am amazed by your photo editing and very interested to learn it from you.
    Greetings,

A preset is similar to a filter… like a certain setting that is applied above your picture to make editing much easier. Thx love ❤️
