Cappadocia Travel Diary – Hot Air Balloons, Puppy Kisses, Sunrises & Sultan Cave Suites

Cappadocia Travel Diary – Hot Air Balloons, Puppy Kisses, Sunrises & Sultan Cave Suites

I would have NEVER thought that Turkey would be THIS beautiful! When I got invited a few months ago to stay in a really nice hotel in Antalya I was honestly a bit sceptical…

IMG_0509

I’ve never been to Turkey before and currently you don’t hear the best news about Turkey, especially the political situation there. When I told my parents that I would even lengthen my Turkey trip in order to visit Cappadocia after Antalya I had to listen to many comments: “Two such beautiful girls shouldn’t visit Turkey by themselves” or “What if you get kidnapped?” Also friends told me very straight forward their opinion: “Well, I wouldn’t fly to Turkey in the current situation. Why don’t you come with us to the Hamptons?!”

Of course I understand that some people are a bit worried visiting Turkey at the moment. However, I didn’t feel unsafe here for one second. Rather the opposite! Being blonde of course guys often look or talk to you here but for those who are used to Italy Turkey is really harmless πŸ˜› Furthermore, I’ve hardly ever met so many friendly and open minded people. Plus the landscape in Turkey is simply breath-taking! Hence, I can even recommend visiting Turkey during the current times. Although Cappadocia is especially stunning! I’m gonna talk about why in this blog post πŸ™‚

These were our Highlights during our first two days in Cappadocia:

Sunset on the Rooftop

IMG_0603

Our first hotel had a stunning rooftop where we had breakfast the first day. This meant setting the alarmclock to 4 am, however, this was definitely worth it!! Honestly I only slept like 4 hours each night during our entire stay πŸ˜› Also during my outbound flight I had to spend one night in Istanbul… my followers on Snapchat saw how “pleasant” that was πŸ˜› However “The best things in life never come easy!” Hence, also as a travel blogger hard work and little sleep are just part of the deal πŸ˜‰

Hot Air Balloon Ride

You definitely need to book a hot air balloon ride when you’re in Cappadocia. We’ve decided to fly withΒ Butterfly Balloons which I can definitely recommend. Cappadocia is the only place in the entire world where almost every morning sometimes hundreds of balloons fly in the air. Of course currently there are not that many because unfortunately Turkey is suffering from a significant decrease of tourism volume. Nevertheless, the experience was simply amazing πŸ™‚ For this it was also worth it waking up at 4am πŸ˜›

Landscape of Cappadocia

The landscape of Cappadocia is incredibly breath-taking! Especially the stones and the blue sky are like in a fairytale. We explored the outdoor museum in Cappadocia which is definitely worth visiting!

Our first Accomodation – Sultan Cave Suites

IMG_0487

Our first two nights we stayed atΒ Sultan Cave Suites in GΓΆreme. We really felt like home here. The hotel is super familiar, has a stunning rooftop and amazing employees who are super friendly and funny. All hotel guests stay in caves which were really pleasant considering how warm it was outside. Also the food at the hotel’s own restaurant Setant Anatolian Restaurant is excellent and we mainly lived of fresh fruit and cheese during our time there πŸ˜€

Puppy Kisses

IMG_0486

Furthermore, Sultan Cave Suites has two of the cutest dogs ever. Latte is still a small puppy and stays together with his mom at the hotel. Hence, as a hotel guest you have many possibilities playing with the dogs. Small Latte even followed me around everywhere. I would have loved to take him home and miss him already πŸ™

Wonderful post, Maddi! Your pictures are so lovely!!

Just checked out your blog for the first time … I follow you on Insta ?

Definitely looking forward to visiting Cappadocia soon! Was thinking to go this coming week on a spontaneous trip but may end up waiting until September or October when it starts to cool down

I’ve been to Turkey countless times. I especially love Istanbul & Bodrum (so much fun by yacht). If you ever decide to visit either place I have plenty of recommendations!

My family & friends back in the USA are also concerned every time I visit Turkey. They think I’ve gone mad haha it really is an incredible country & I’m so glad you had such a positive experience with your friend.

As a 26 year old American girl I am always cautious when I visit places by myself but overall I think it’s safe if you are a mindful traveler (& obviously completely avoid the southeast region closest to Syria). ??

Safe travels & best wishes to you,

So glad I was able to see your blog. How many nights did you stay at the hotel? Is 1 night enough. I wanted to stay there one night and there is another hotel in the area of Urgup. Also, as you stayed in Goerome, is there another hotel you saw there that you wished you had booked or any other cave hotel you saw that you would recommend?
Lastly, I loveeee all the outfits you wore. Where did you shop for them? Sorry, the fashionista in me had to ask πŸ™‚
