29 Jul My Travel Tips for Zell am See & Kaprun, Austria

I’ve just come back from one of the most beautiful places on earth: Zell am See – Kaprun in Austria. I have to admit that there are not many such nice places which are so close to Germany as Zell am See – Kaprun 🙂
Unfortunately we were not so lucky with the weather but we still really enjoyed our stay at Zell am See – Kaprun.
Today I wanna show you a few Highlights of our Trip and give you a some Travel Tips for Zell am See – Kaprun:
1) Do Paragliding or go Skydiving
The highlight of our trip was doing paragliding through the clouds. I’ve already done it before in New Zealand. However, there were blue skies back then which is by far not as interesting as flying through the clouds 😀 It’s an incredible feeling or freedom which you shouldn’t miss out on 🙂
2) Go Hiking
Zell am See – Kaprun offers beautiful hiking trails. Hence, you should definitely go hiking there. You can also go rock climbing in the region so there is something for every adventurer type.
3) Visit the Gipfelwelt 3000 on the Kitzsteinhorn
Already looking at the Nationalpark Gallery at 3000 meters height is worth it taking the gondola to Kitzsteinhorn. Unfortunately there was not a great view the day we went up there. But walking through the cave and looking at the nationalpark gallery was definitely also an unforgettable experience for us.
4) Visit Zell am See
If like us you stay in Kaprun you should still visit Zell am See. There are many cool events worth attending as well as a beautiful landscape to see. You can for instance take a boat over the lake and enjoy the beautiful panorama 🙂
5) Have a look at the Magic Lake Show
As soon as the sun sets in Zell am See – Kaprun, it is not dark at all: From 15th of May until 13th of October 2016, three times a week, a spectacular „Water-, Light-, Music- and Laser show“, with the name Magic Lake Show (“Zeller Seezauber”) awaits you. The show starts at 10.00 p.m. from May to August and at 09.00 p.m. in September & October. Watch as the night turns bright every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday evening. We thought the show was really impressive and it reminds you of the wonderful show in Barcelona.
6) Do Stand Up Paddle Boarding Yoga on the Lake
I’ve done quite a few times Stand Up Paddle Boarding but never SUP Yoga. In Zell am See you have the chance to try it out. For all yoga and nature lovers this is definitely a must do 🙂
7) Visit the Tauern Spa
We were so lucky being able to stay at Tauern Spa. But also if you’re staying somewhere else you should visit the Tauern Spa as it has an impressive sauna and spa landscape. It is especially suited for families as kids have their own area.
8) Take the Gondola
You can reach the most wonderful viewpoints in Zell am See – Kaprun via gondola. I can definitely recommend you the gondola to Gipfelwelt 3000 at the Kitzsteinhorn or the Schmittenhöhe.
9) Visit Events
In Zell am See – Kaprun there are in summer as well as in winter many events such as the Iron Man. Find the event calendar here.
10) Enjoy the Local Cuisine
Austria’s cuisine is really amazing! Even if you have to skip your diet for a while you should definitely try out local specialities such as Kaiserschmarrn and co.
We stayed at Tauern Spa in Kaprun which we really enjoyed. The hotel has a huge spa landscape with different pools, saunas etc. Plus it was really convenient going to the pool in your comfy bathrobe 😛
We especially loved the Panorama Spa with a grand view 🙂 The Panorama Spa is only accessible for hotel guests so you can really relax here. Really beautiful is also the nice Spa where you can get the most amazing massages.
The Hotel Gym at Tauern Spa is very well equipped and you can workout with such a nice view 🙂
As you can see there are soooo many things to do in Zell am See – Kaprun. Hence, the region is attractive in summer as well as in winter 🙂
