23 Jun My current Fitness & Diet Routine
Those of you who follow me on Snapchat (you can find me via “pilotmadeleine1“) might have recognized that I follow quite a tough fitness plan at the moment. And also when it comes to my diet I really pay attention to what I eat at the moment. Because I believe that fitness and nutrition simply belong togehter! One thing alone is not as effective as both combined 😉
I decided to go with this tougher program because since the beginning of my blog it feels like I’m always traveling. When I’m home in Munich I have no problem eating healthy and working out a lot. But when I’m staying in these really nice hotels you get sediced to eat lots of unhealthy things such as pancakes, waffles and co and (due to the heat, little time etc.) to skip the gym. Because you don’t pay that much money for abstaining from something or forcing yourself to hit the gym. When traveling is your job though (like it is the case for me) you cannot act like a normal hotel guest. I’m a person who loves clear things. Hence, I set myself clear goals that I not only wanna comply to when I’m home but also when I travel. Today in this blog post I will tell you what this means exactly 😉
My current Fitness Routine:
My current fitness routine consists of staying active every single day. When I travel this means: I workout in the gym, do a big hike or go running at the beach. In Munich this means that I eather hit the gym, go for a walk in the park or train with pilates machines. When I recognize that my muscles are super sore I schedule a rest day. This happesn maybe once a week. Altough I also use this day effectively and stretch, go swimming etc. in order to regenerate quickly.
When I’m in the gym I usually start with a 30 or 45 minute cardio session. I usually run on the treadmill or use the cross trainer. Afterwards I train around 45 minutes with weights and machines. After approx. 1 1/2 hours training I’m totally exhausted. That’s why I prefer using the gym in the evening when I travel. This also helps me to fall asleep quickly despite having a jet lag. Hence, sport also has this great side effect that you can simply sleep better 😉
My current Diet Routine:
My current diet routine consists of three large meals a day. When I do yoga in the morning (this is offered in some of the hotels) I won’t eat anything before. Otherwise, I first have a great breakfast then I do my fitness program.
My breakfast usually consists of some oatmeal (or proats). I use 80g gluten-free oats, some water, a teaspoon chia seeds, a bit Xucker and optional some protein powder. I always have some fruit with it such as fresh strawberries in summer. I cannot get enough of this breaky. It is super filling and gives me poweder during the day.
My lunch is in contrast to my breakfast low carb. Here I for instance make some Chili Con Carne, some grilled chicken with vegetables and greek yogurt, Spaghetti Bolognese with low carb noodles etc. Funnily I often cook meals from my own Healthy Cookbooks CLEAN & CREATIVE COOKING. When I travel I enjoy not having to cook myself 😀 Sometimes I will ask the waiter whether it is possible to get some grilled vegetables or salad instead of the potatoes, noodles etc. This is usually never a problem. Hence, NOTHING needs to be embarassing for you! This is anyways never to case for me…haha! This is again sometimes emberassing for my travel partners 😛
I often have my dinner around 6pm (which is of course not always possible when I travel). It is quite similar to my lunch. When I’m in Munich I usually cook 2 to 4 portions. Hence, I often won’t need to cook again in the evening. Unless I have some fresh groceries such as fish. Then I will also go back in the kitchen in the evening.
When I get hungry in between I’ll just eat some fruit with some light cottage cheese, a few nuts, a protein bar etc. I try to always bring some healthy snacks with me when I’m on the go so I won’t feel forced buying some unhealthy food at the airport or so. Besides that I NEVER starve myself! This is very important to me to mention because starving yourself is even contra productive when you wanna loose weight etc.!!
I usually won’t deny myself from having dessert either. Most of the times it’s just fruit though. Overall I need to say that even though it might be fa quite “strict” diet routine for some people, I feel super happy with it. Like mentioned earlier I have absolutely no problem sticking to clear guidelines. This is ten times easier for me then allowing myself treats every once in a while. If I let myself do that I’m much more seduced into eating ice cream, cake, pancakes etc. when I travel 😛 Today I’m already excited with a great selection of fruit and it is also not emberassing for me asking for oeatmeal with water for breakfast 😀
I’ve been following this strict fitness and diet routine for around three weeks now and I’ve already been able to see some progress. For instance my abs have gotten much more defined and my sixpack is not hidden in nirvana anymore 😛 Of course it is still a long way in order to reach my dream body but isn’t the journey the reward?! 😉 And I feel super fit and healthy and great in my body now. And that’s what’s most important, right 🙂
I wanna emphasize again that everybody is individual!! What works for some might not work for the other. I know my body quite well by now and I know what I have to do in order to reach my goals. This can be totally different for somebody else. For some people a high carb low fat diet might work better than low carb diet. Hence, listen to your body and do what is best for you 🙂
Of course I will keep you in the loop about my progress on my blog. On Snapchat (username “pilotmadeleine1“) you can also see some progress pics and daily food diaries of mine 😉
Do you follow a strict fitness- and diet plan at the moment? And which fitness- and diet routine works best for you? I find this topic extremely interesting so I’m very curious to hear about your experiences 🙂
