New Zealand Photo Diary & Travel Tips – Auckland & Waiheke

Hi lovelies,

finally today there is my first blog post from New Zealand. I am really sorry for not having blogged earlier from here. My laptop broke down on the second day we got here πŸ™ Luckily I found a computer pro today who was able to fix the problem. You cannot believe how relieved I am πŸ˜€

Instead of what I usually do during my travel I decided not to write a travel diary in New Zealand but rather a post a photo diary and travel tips for you guys. I’ve recognized that really many of you are interested in New Zealand as a destination so I wanna give you more useful information such as accomodation recommendations, restaurant tips, what to do there etc. πŸ˜‰ Today I wanna start withΒ Auckland and Waiheke where we spent our first three days here in New Zealand:

AUCKLAND

Accomodation

A great accomodation that is directly at the airport is the Novotel Auckland Aiport. We booked it for a day room in order to refresh before our day in Auckland. Especially the breakfast at Novotel Auckland Airport is amazing! There is a great selection of fresh fruit, savoury things such as omelette, smoked salmon etc. and sweet things such as fresh cakes, pancakes and much more πŸ™‚

Restaurants

A restaurant which is exactly how I like it is the restaurantΒ Provenance which you can find a bit outside of Auckland. All items on the menu are healthy and organically grown in their own garden. They have delicious selfmade juices and an awesome selfmade ice cream as well πŸ˜€

What To Do

If you’re visiting Auckland you definitely need to do the SkyWalk at the Sky Tower which is the tallest building in the southern hemisphere. This was actually the first thing I did after leaving the airplane πŸ˜€ It released so much adrenaline that I was not tired at all but rather fit on my first day πŸ˜€

Because I love challenging myself right after the SkyWalk I also did theΒ Sky Jump. Yes, I actually jumped of the Sky Tower (out of 1902 meters height). Sorry Mom & Dad if you reading this πŸ˜€ The jump lasts around 11 seconds which is pure fun! I would do it again anytime πŸ˜€

For all those who love horses there is a nice Horse Trek a bit outside of Auckland at Muriwai Beach. Unfortunately we weren’t able to do it but already the beach itself is really beautiful! You will also get to see a huge colony of gannets there which are nice to see as well πŸ™‚

WAIHEKE

Waiheke is a beautiful island not far away from Auckland. You get there by ferry which I can really recommend you doing. I believe Waiheke might be the most beautiful place of New Zealand I’ve seen so far πŸ™‚

Accomodation

We stayed at Waiheke Central Apartments. I can really recommend this accomodation as it is super central and there is a really nice beach view right from the apartment. The apartments are well equipped including a fully equipped kitchen so you can also cook yourself. On the other side of the apartments there is a grocery store. Hence, we always made our own breakfast so we could sleep a bit longer πŸ˜€ Therefore I think having an apartment is even more convenient on vacation that staying in a hotel.

Restaurants

If you’re in Waiheke you definitely need to try out the The Oyster Inn. They have the best seafood and also other yummy things such as this delicious and healthy salad πŸ™‚

Another restaurant which you definitely need to visit is the Batch Winery. The restaurant is really idyllically located and you have a stunning view over the vine yards etc. there. You can do some vine tasting at Batch Winery and you definitely should try out the kiwi style high tea where you will be served local treats such as Pavlova. Super yummy!

What To Do

I’m a huge fan of Stand Up Paddle Boarding. Hence, we didn’t wanna miss doing some Stand Up Paddle Boarding in Waiheke. I recommend you booking a tour or renting some boards at Ross Adventures via Kayak Waiheke. The owner Ross is amazing and he will really teach you how to do stand up paddle boarding or kayaking correctly πŸ™‚

For all adventure lovers like myself I can recommend you doing Ziplining & Forest Walk via Eco Zip Adventures. There are three different zipline stations which get steeper, faster and thus more fun each time πŸ˜€ Afterwards there is also a nice hike back directly through the jungle πŸ˜€ Definitely a must do in Waiheke!

To sum up I can say that Auckland as well as Waiheke are very recommendable! Both are places which offer tons of options for activities which is always really important to me. I believe New Zealand as a country is probably the place with the best possibilities to stay active πŸ˜€ Hence, I really have been enjoying New Zealand including Auckland and Waiheke πŸ™‚
