My Top 10 Excursions on the Maldives

My Top 10 Excursions on the Maldives

Hi lovelies,

I’m a very active person and love it to not only relax on vacation but also do some activities. Some people believe the Maldives are boring as you can only lay out on the beach all day. That is not the case though… if you want to 😉 You can stay super active on the Maldives 🙂

Here are my Top 10 Maldives Excursion Tips:

1) Swimming with Whale Sharks

Unfortunately not every resort offers this tour. We were so lucky to be able to participate in a whale shark tour at Maafushivaru. Of course there is no guarantee that you will actually get to see these big and beautiful creatures. However, it is worth the try! We were so lucky to see even two of these amazing animals. For me it was maybe the most magical and fascinating experience on the Maldives 🙂 You need to be a good swimmer though as it can get a bit exhausting following whale sharks for a while.

2) Dolphin-Tour

Back in the days it was possible to swim with dolphins. However, this is usually not offered anymore as dolphins love to play and the risk is too high that you will carry away bruises etc. 😛 Nevertheless, it’s worth watching theses beautiful animals from the boat. We were so lucky to have seen dolphins by chance even twice during our time in the Maldives. I almost cried out of luck because it was such a magical moment 😀

3) Stand Up Paddle Boarding

Stand Up Padle Boarding (SUP) is my favorite sport on vacation. SUP also offers the possibility to explore your own island. It’s an amazing full body workout. Besides that SUP makes it possible to explore your own island and at the same time watch the stunning underwater world.

4) Swimming with Mantas

Many hotels offer the possibility to swim with mantas. For me it was an incredible experience because mantas are such beautiful and big creatures. It felt real magical swimming with them.

5) Parasailing

Unfortunately I haven’t managed to do it on the Maldives yet. But I did parasailing on the Bahams. It was an incredible feeling seeing your own island from above 🙂

6) Snorkling with Turtles

Turtles are my favorite animals. Hence, it was one of my best experiences in the Maldives seeing them while snorkling. We saw many of them there. Most of the times the turtles in the Maldives are so used to people that they are not shy at all 🙂

Just as Stand Up Paddle Boarding Kayaking offers a great chance to stay active on vacation and to explore your own island.

Those who love snorkling or diving should select an island with a nice house reef.

9) Private Dining

If you enjoy a romantic atmosphere you should book private dining. We were lucky to try it out on Lonubo, the private island of Maafushivaru. I’m not a very romantic person but it was an increcible experience anyways 🙂

10) Spa

It’s not a real excursion but some islands offer great spa treatments. For all those who are really stressed I can recommend booking a spa treatment right in the beginning of your vacation.
