Airline Review – With Qatar Airways to the Maldives

Airline Review – With Qatar Airways to the Maldives

Already 10 months ago I had a flight with Qatar Airways to the Maldives. My boyfriend and I liked them so much that we decided to fly with them again.

The flight to Maldives from Germany is always via Doha. It’s approx. 6 hours flight time to Doha, and from there approx. 4 hours to Malé.

Already the stopover at Doha is an experience! Unfortunately we only had a 1 1/2 hours stopover there this time. Last time it was 4 hours so we had some time to explore the airport. You can tell how pompous everything is. There are nice stores such as Tiffany & Co. and you also have the chance to buy a Ferrari in the Duty Free 😛 Crazy!

The whole aiport is really special. There is also a great FroYo store there 😀

We flew from Frankfurt to Doha with the 777. From Doha our flight was with the A320 to Malé. Although the Triple 7 is a much larger airplane I enjoyed the second flight more. One of the reasons for that was because no one sat next to us so I could spread out over 3 seats and sleep 😀

I was a bit disappointed of the airplane. Although I need to admit that my expectations where quite high because our last flight was with the Dreamliner where you have an extra large leg space and other benefits such as an amenity kit. This was missing in today’s flight.

Nevertheless, Qatar has many things to offer: a cuddly pillow and blanket waiting for you at your seat, a first-class service, above average food and a nice stopover at Doha Airport.

Also the entertainment system is great at Qatar Airways! We for instance watched Minions during our flight 🙂

I filmed a small Onboard Food Diary for you guys. Unfortunately the lighting wasn’t great today but you can get some impressions 😉 I didn’t go for a special meal at today’s flight, which I regretted later. The food wasn’t as good as last time but still above average.

Food on our first flight – Lunch: Risotto with chicken in tomato sauce. I skipped the brownie and the white roll, everthing else tasted great.

Food on our second flight – Dinner: Meat balls with spicy rice. Unfortunately I could only eat the sides as there was some seasoning in the rice which I cannot stand 😛 Also the cheesecake was much too sweet. But of course that is just my own taste so it won’t have any affect on the rating.

Here you can see my overall Rating for Qatar Airways (5 is the maximum):

Service                  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Airplanes                  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Food                        ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Entertainment      ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Extras                   ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Overall-Rating:    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.2 = 4.2 stars

Overall I would definitely fly with Qatar Airways again. The flight wasn’t as good as our last one in the Dreamliner. However, I can definitely recommend Qatar Airways.

Have you ever flown with them? And if so, which experience did you have?
