New Zealand Photo Diary & Travel Tips – Nelson incl. Abel Tasman National Park

Hi lovelies,

we’ve experienced so many wonderful things the past days here in New Zealand that I finally wanna tell you about them today. We spent two days in the beautiful Abel Tasman National Park where we had no wifi and still enjoyed the situation πŸ˜€ Today I wanna show you our pics and give you a few travel tips forΒ Nelson as well as for the Abel Tasman National Park πŸ™‚

We flew from Auckland to Nelson withΒ Air New Zealand. New Zealand has a North and a South Island, hence, flying makes definitely sense. You can also take the ferry to Nelson. However, I cannot recommend that because flying is just much more comfortable and also saves you time.

NELSON

Nelson is a really beautiful city. Hence, you definitely need to visit Nelson when you’re in New Zealand.

Restaurants

IMG_1194IMG_1234IMG_1197 (1)IMG_1238 IMG_0289 IMG_0290IMG_1195

A restaurant which we visited even twice because it was so good is the restaurantΒ Boat Shed. It is directly at the harbour and from the terrace there is a nice view over the nearby sailing club. I recommend you ordering some seafood there (the shrimp salad is amazing) and definitely some cheesecake with berries as dessert πŸ˜€ Because it tastes soooo good πŸ™‚

What To Do

If you have some time in Nelson have a look at the City of Nelson. Nelson is really wonderful and there are many nice stores, good restaurants etc.

I’m not a fan of museums but the World of Wearable Art museum was even my taste πŸ˜€ You can findmany great designer fashion pieces there which are partly totally crazy but all totally cool πŸ˜€

It is also worth stopping at the sailing harbour of Nelson which is really beautiful πŸ™‚

ABEL TASMAN NATIONAL PARK

IMG_1182

The Abel Tasman National Park is one of the most stunning national parks that I’ve ever seen πŸ™‚ The park is huge that it is definitely worth spending a few days there.

Accomodation

IMG_0323 IMG_0326IMG_1141

We spent one night at Abel Tasman Marahau Lodge. This sweet hotel isn’t very luxurious but really nice. And you even get served breakfast to your own room in the morning πŸ˜€ From there you can also walk to the park and many places like the water taxi or kayaking place are just in walking distance.

The second night we had a really cool accomodation:Β Aqua Packers near Anchorage Beach. I’m usually not a big fan of backpacker hostels as I don’t like sharing rooms with strangers. The Aqua Packers offers shared rooms but also single rooms (with either one large or two small beds). The special thing about this accomodation is that it’s on a boat. For dinner there is a great barbecue on the boat where you meet many cool and interesting people. I for instance had the best conversation on the boat with people from many different nationalities πŸ˜€ Hence, I can really recommend staying there for at least one night.

What To Do

Abel Tasman National Park is great for hiking which I really love do to. Hence, bring some good shoes and explore the park via foot.

Then you might see such dream beaches like this one πŸ˜€

Another great way to explore the park is doing some Kayaking. We booked our tour at Abel Tasman Kayaks which I can really recommend. The guides are really amazing and it is super fun going kayaking in a group of about 10 people. Our tour took almost the entire day. Hence, you can imagine how my arms felt afterwards especially since we were the only entire girl group πŸ˜› But it was definitely worth it and I would do this tour anytime again!

Via Water TaxiΒ you can get from one island to the other if you don’t wanna walk the entire time. Because it would definitely take you a few days πŸ˜‰

IMG_1186 IMG_1146 IMG_1149 IMG_1148 IMG_1147 IMG_1145 IMG_1187 IMG_1185

One of the most beautiful beaches in the Abel Tasman National Park is Anchorage Beach.

IMG_1184 IMG_1180IMG_1225

From Anchorage Beach there is a great hike to the Cullans Point Lookout from where you get to enjoy a lovely view over the beach. This hike takes only around 40 minutes and it is already great to do it as a workout πŸ˜‰ We did the hike right after our kayaking tour, hence… πŸ˜‰

IMG_1189

To sum up I can say thatΒ Nelson as well as the Abel Tasman National Park are simply beautiful! Therefore, I can definitely recommend you visiting both πŸ™‚

As you can see we really enjoyed the time in mother nature. Have you ever been to Nelson or the Abel Tasman National Park? Or would you like to go there someday?
